Google rebrands payments programs as Google Pay
Google has brought all of its payments platforms under one umbrella with a new name: Google Pay.
“With Google Pay, it’ll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind,” Pali Bhat, vice president of product management of payments for Google, wrote in a blog post about the announcement. “Over the coming weeks, you’ll see Google Pay online, in store, and across Google products, as well as when you’re paying friends.”
The move brings several brands in one place, including Android Pay, Google Wallet (which has seen several versions and is now a P2P app) and India’s Google Tez.
