Facebook might be in the process of turning Facebook Messenger into an in-store mobile payment option which would put the app on similar ground with offerings from Alipay and Tencent in China.
The Information reported that it examined code in the current iOS version of Messenger that revealed commands such as "pay in person" and "pay directly in Messenger when you pick up the item."
Messenger already enables its users to transfer funds to each if they link a debit card to the service.
